Pauline C. (Harris) Grant, 76, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014 at RI Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Rolland R. Grant for 54 years.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Daniel W. and Lillian (McGetrick) Harris. Pauline was employed as a medical secretary for many years before retiring from Swansea Pediatrics.

She was tremendously proud of her Irish heritage and served as vice president of the RI Irish Famine Memorial.

Besides her husband she is survived by six children,

  • Kenneth R. and his wife Linda,
  • Kevin P. and his wife Jennifer,
  • James M. and his wife Shelley,
  • Michael J. and his wife Jeannie,
  • Daniel E., and
  • Catherine M. Grant-Schieldrop and her husband David Schieldrop,
  • fifteen grandchildren and one great grandson.

She was the sister of the late Joseph T. Harris.

Pauline enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, her dogs, Mollie and Murphy, gardening, shopping, telling stories, enjoying breakfast at Newport Creamery with her husband, getting lunch at Gregg's every Friday with Lauren and Casey, and spending time at Sand Hill Cove Beach.

Her funeral will be held Monday, July 21, at 8:45 am from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Martha Church, Pawtucket Ave., East Providence at 10 am. Burial will be in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Sunday 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the RI Irish Famine Memorial, P.O. Box 28077, Providence, RI 02908, will be appreciated.
